In Spite of Thunder is a solo project from Cathy Isot, French composer, classically trained singer, lyricist and multi instrumentalist (transverse flute, keyboards, guitar).
Heavily inspired by the Gothic culture, classical music and Celtic Folk, Cathy released a gothic symphonic metal single in 2022 called Drama Queen.
She was also the soprano and manager of Gothic Doom metal band Spell of Enchantress.
While currently recording a solo gothic metal EP, she is releasing acoustic ballads, revealing a new facet of her musical universe.

The Downward Spiral  – Acoustic is about climbing out of the depths of our minds, in a society where depression is still not taken seriously and costs way too many lives.

This song feels like exploring haunted castles during rainstorms.

The harpsichord was Cathy’s very first keyboard instrument and its delicate yet unusual sound offers an interesting twist on the neoclassical background of this track.

The rest of the upcoming acoustic album will be released in 2026, with the following single to be released on January 9th.
